Translation of Chapter 1 verses 1 through 18 of the Gospel of John by Scott Goddard.

This translation I did will hopefully clarify some cloudiness surrounding the Oneness of God, particularly toward the relationship between God, the Father and the divinity of the Sonship. It highlights the Sonship even in what appears to be its earlier role as "The Word" in our Genesis and in the creation of our domain. As well, I believe it best highlights the progressive revealing of the Sonship in John's writing. Originally, I did not pick up on it before the translation. This is a mixture of literal translation, parentheticals, and conservative usage of paraphrasing or adding words to emphasize meaning.

In the beginning existed the Word, and the Word belonged with God and God was the Word.
This Word was in the beginning and belonged to God.
Everything happened through him (the Word), and apart from him, no things could happen, not even one thing.
In him life exists, and that life is the light of the man.
And the light appeared in the darkness, and the darkness could not overwhelm him.

As it happened, a man was sent from God. His name was John.
This man came to testify about the light, so that all would believe through him.
He was not the light, but rather, his purpose was to testify about the light.

It is the true light which enlightens every man, and it was coming toward the world.
The light was in the world and the world existed through him, and the world did not recognize him.
He arrived to his own people and his own people did not receive him.
For those that did receive him, he gave them authority to become God's children because they believed on his name.
They became so, not of blood, not of bodily determination, and not of any decisions by men- but instead became children of God, who became their Father.
And the Word became flesh and lived in this earth. We had seen the glory, his glory was like that of the one and only Son, the kind of glory that our forefathers saw, full of grace and truth.
John testified of him, beside himself and cried out, "This is the one I told you about who comes after me and is greater than me, because he existed before me!"
It is his fullness that we have received and grace after grace (a wonderful blessing upon our hearts and a favourability that comes upon our lives that never ends).
It was the Law that was given to us through Moses; grace and truth through Jesus.
God, who no one has seen at any time; the one and only-born, manifested God, that is, the one who exists from within the Father and comes from the Father himself- He is the one we speak of.
